Our Club

For more than a century, Kiwanis International has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen. Our club celebrated 100 years of service in 2022.

The Kiwanis Club of Staunton gathers and distributes donated food and other products from Martin’s food store each Wednesday. Kiwanis members Dan Bonner and Rick Pfizenmayer sort the donated items at the Kiwanis concession stand in Gypsy Hill Park. The club began this program in April 2020 to help provide food and other household items to families affected by the economic impacts of COVID-19. The donations have totaled nearly $80,000 and have been distributed to over 20 different organizations, including to Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Valley Mission, and the Salvation Army.

The Kiwanis Club of Staunton focuses on supporting youth in the Staunton and Augusta County areas, while Kiwanis International supports the fighting disease and poverty worldwide. Our Kiwanis members are generous with their time through our community projects that include coordinating the Staunton Babe Ruth Baseball League with over 250 children each year at Gypsy Hill Park since 1947 and the Model General Assembly for Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County Students to learn about Virginia state government. We are passionate about making a difference in our communities, and we have fun along the way!

Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. Kiwanis strives to be a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive. Our Kiwanis club fulfills the Kiwanis mission by serving our community through Kiwanis Community Service Projects, sponsoring the Staunton High School Key Club and grants from our Staunton Kiwanis Foundation.
